DAY 1: 15/03/2010
Arrive at Knorhoek in the afternoon, maybe go out for a bite to eat, or have a pre-arranged dinner at Knorhoek.
Stay at Knorhoek which is a working wine farm.
Knorhoek lies some 200 - 380 meters above sea level on the gently sloping foothills of the Simonsberg mountain.
Originally a clay and stone structure housing stables, a blacksmith room and coach house, the guest house offers modern comfort with old world charm. Wake up to birdcalls and farmyard bustle and let us spoil you with a traditional Cape breakfast.
OVERNIGHT: Knorhoek B&B
DAYS 2:16/03/2010
Tuck into a traditional Cape breakfast, then mount your bikes and start the day’s cycling
on the R44 towards Paarl, turn right after about 10 kms & cycle past Rupert &
Rothchschild, Vrede & Lust continuing on to Franschhoek. Here we will have a break
before turning back towards our lunch stop along the
R310 –stop at Thelema. This is a tough cycle up the
back of Hel’s Hoogte.
Dinner this evening will be at a restaurant in
Stellenbosch
OVERNIGHT: Knorhoek B&B (Distance 60-70kms)
DAYS 3:17/03/2010
After breakfast, we cycle in a circular route along the
M23, passing some well known wine farms such as
Simonsig, Hartenberg, Kaapzicht Estate, Zevenwacht Estate towards Kuilsriver, then back
via Polkadraai through Stellenbosch to Jonkershoek Valley and to Oude Nektar (the name
of the Estate where Neil Ellis wines come from) Here our hosts are none other than Neil
Ellis and joint owner Hans Schroder!!
Dinner tonight will be at “something like 69!!”
OVERNIGHT: Knorhoek B&B (Distance 70-80kms)
DAYS 4: 18/03/2010
Today we drive to Gordon’s Bay, from where we cycle
along the magnificent seafront road going towards
Betty's Bay, Kleinmond at +- 47 kms. We can cycle for
another 37 kms to Hermanus or rack the bikes. With
bikes racked we drive to Waterford Wine Estate, for our
final wine tasting.
A little cocktail number could even be worn tonight for dinner!!

DAY 5: 19/03/2010
After another lovely early morning cycle or sleep in, breakfast, then head for the airport
& back to reality!!!
