Arrive at 16h00, settle in and then cycle for 1.5 - 2 hr on Kurisa Moya's Mountain Bike Route through indigenous forest, grassland and bushveld.  (varied tracks and difficulty) Kurisa Moya is an amazingly beautiful nature lodge in the Northern / Limpopo Province of South Africa. This haven is nestled in the Northern Drakensberg escarpment and overlooks the breathtaking Kudu's River Valley and 20 minutes from the mountain village of Haenertsburg and the beautiful Magoebaskloof.  This piece of paradise, truly embodies its Xitsonga name, Kurisa Moya, meaning Tranquil Spirit as it is a place where you can revive your soul.
Dinner this evening will be a braai.

Saturday 23 May 2009

Early morning coffee and rusks.  Then cycle up to Schnellskop mountain, the 2nd highest peak in the area and through mountains and forests down the  very scenic Woodbush Drive to the Debengeni Waterfalls, stopping for a packed breakfast along the way.
Rack your bike or continue up to the Sepekoe Tea Estate where you can enjoy a light lunch of pancakes with delicious fillings.  Drive back up Woodbush Drive with top bird guide, David Letsoalo, stopping to pick up the forest specials like Black-fronted Bush Shrike, Orange Ground Thrush, Green Twinspot, Narina Trogon, Bat Hawk and Cape Parrot.
The birding on Kurisa Moya Nature Lodge is superb, with unusual species such as the Narina Trogon, the Buff-spotted Flufftail, the Black-fronted Bush Shrike, the Green Twinspot and the Knysna Turaco, to name but a few.

Enjoy a chicken potjie under the stars.
