Day 3Today we do a return cycle into Golden Gate National Park, which boasts outstanding examples of Clarens Sandstone, a layer of sedimentary rock laid down some 170 million years ago. It is also home to the rare bearded vulture, better known as the lammergeyer. Day 4After breakfast take a leisurely cycle to Bethlehem, about 35 kms, then rack the bikes and head back to Johannesburg. Included: Excluded: Back to Cycle Tours South Africa

Meet in JHB at 06h00 and drive to Bethlehem. Have a light breakfast & then set off, on your bicycles, over Retiefsnek (5900ft) towards Fouriesburg. Fouriesburg, known for its sandstone buildings, was proclaimed the capital of the Free State during the Anglo Boer War. 
Cycle to Clarens over Surrender Hill (6200ft). It was here that thousands of Boer men, women and children were trapped and forced to surrender to the British soldiers in 1900. Once over the crest of the hill, it is an easy cycle to Clarens. Set in the magnificent Maluti Mountains of the Eastern Free State Highlands is Maluti Lodge. Here, overlooking the quaint village of Clarens, guests experience the rare pleasure of the true country quality and hospitality, well known to this secluded enclave of the Malutis. 
The Red Mountain Range as well as the Maluti Mountains surrounds Clarens, which makes this town an artist paradise. Meander through the 17 art galleries and explore the quaint, intimate restaurants and bars in the town – don’t forget to take your credit cards!!!!
